Hitting the target-retell, Alice and Jennifer
Hitting The Target
It started with me traveling around the world. Wanting to be the best at something.
It took me a while to decide. But then I thought about archery.
I practiced all day everyday until I always hit the bull’s-eye.
I soon became champion of my village then champion of my country then even the world
I was the best
After I had finished a competition a man approached me.
“I know someone better than you,” he commented
What?! I thought to myself, Nobody's better than me!
“Impossible!”I shouted “Nobody could ever beat me!” the archer answered back with a tone.
“Well I do and they live right over… There!”
He pointed to a shabby old looking cottage. It was really old and the paint was peeling off, there was dead vines hanging from the roof and walls and all the grass was overgrown and grey-ish
“I'll meet you there tomorrow at dawn,” He told the archer.
“Right then!” the archer spoke.
They walked to their houses and went to bed. Later that night the archer found herself not being able to get a good night's sleep.
So she got up to grab a drink.
As she was standing in her kitchen she looked out the window across the field.
All she could see was the old shabby house through her window.
The archer saw a barn next to it.
‘Huh’ she thought. “I never saw a barn over there before” The archer told herself.
‘Well I'm going to see tomorrow’ and she went back to bed.
The next morning the archer heard a knock on the door.
She opened it to find the young man waiting for her.
“Yes i'm ready”
They started walking to the cottage and down the path.
“Oh yes how rude of me, my name is Timmithy”
“Well. Nice to meet you sir Timmithy” The archer spoke softly
As they started getting closer to the barn, a man walked out of the small building. “Why hello Timmithy” voiced the stranger.
“Hi uncle Jeffrey,” the young boy answered.
The archer looked confused. “Uncle?” she asked.
“Yes” “Uncle, meet my friend, a world champion archer!”
Jeffrey looked at the archer, and looked back at all his targets on the side of the barn. “Well not much to me,” he spoke.
The archer started to clench her fists. “Well.” she told with a sassy tone. “Have you been across the whole world and won all the archery competitions?” she asked, grinning. “Uhm. No, no I haven’t” he stuttered. “Exactly!”the archer laughed, flicking her hair. “Well uncle Jeffrey. We came here for an answer.” “You can ask him now,” he spoke to the archer. The archer nodded. “Well first of all my name is Clara” she declared. “I have practiced my whole life to be better than anyone. I can always hit the bullseye. But you, you can get the arrow at the very, very center of the bullseye!” She announced. “How on earth do you do it?!”
Jeffrey grinned and started to giggle. “Mhm well… You see you shoot the arrow onto the bullseye and test your luck. But I first shoot the arrow...Then I paint the target around it"

š„!THIS IS SAD WRITING!š„
Kia Ora, This week our learning intention was to deepen our understanding of descriptive language by creating feelings for our reader, such as empathy. We also looked into the effects of short sentences.
My soul starts to go deeper and deeper into my body as the gloomy feeling of sadness starts to grow. The pain and fear wants to escape, through my red eyes, leaving a trail of tears behind. I take one last look at Charlie. I can’t help myself. I start to tear up as the pain in the dog’s eyes grow. I look down and I see a small puddle of water underneath me. I look back up as my tears trickle down my face. I see the pain in the dog's eyes. she slowly drifts away in sorrow. My heart stops for a second as I took in the last moment of our friendship. I remember all the times she had been mischievous, silly and crazy. I regret all the times I had yelled. Suddenly her heart rate drops, and I am left with nothing but my emptiness and my broken heart.
